A prequel to the original Dune, it tells how the Sisterhood of Rossak evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The incident with Valya Harkonnen using voice is from one called 'Mentats of Dune'. All three books interweave the development of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators and the Suk Doctors..
So what is the 'formula"?
I have read and watched a lot of fantasy/sdi-fi in my life and believe that I can instantly recognise a winner, be it the Fifth Element, The Lord of the Rings, The Edge of Tomorrow, The Matrix, GOT or 12 Monkeys. I have seen EVERY classic – too many to mention here. It just grips you and you have to see more!
and so on
The plot and characters draw you in, there are some delightful surprises, it feels real… I agree that some of the lesser actors are not so great… and that a swordMASTER is unlikely to so ridiculously young …
A classy production all round
but overall the series so far is intruiging, watchable, and has plenty of excitement. The "prophecy" element is delicious and I am seriously looking forward to see what happens next.
