The viewer then gets enough interest and mystery to hook into a drip of vital information in this slow-burning beauty

With no stress or anxiety about work, you’ll just show up, because that’s what you’re paid to do. But those are the pros, as for the cons… Without giving too much away, the first two episodes manage to put the viewer in the mental context of the characters embarking on the strange act of firing for a large secret corporation.

Overall, it’s an Orwellian-Kafkaesque mind-bender with a dash of Beckett’s Godot dialogue

The perfect ingredient for a modern, psychedelic trip into the unknown corporate dystopia…

Story

After years in New York, 14-year-old Autumn returns to the Amazon rainforest to save her childhood village and beloved jaguar friend. A spiritual remake of Gilles de Maistre’s previous film Mia I Bijeli Lav (2018). Wear. not. Waste. Time. On this. Movie. Unrealistic, plagued by plot holes, it’s hard to believe that anyone would invest money, effort, time and energy into such a weak story and script. I’ve seen my share of poor films, but tike is one of the worst. It’s really hard to believe this story from the beginning and continue to invest in the story. How can people write, find the funds and spend all their energy writing, producing and promoting this poorly written, acted and delivered film. This is a real waste of time and don’t waste your time, energy on it.

Story

A man takes a trip down memory lane with his wife and teenage children while facing a divorce. Writer-director Florent Bernard watched a lot of movies about parents separating and noticed that they were either comedies or dramas, with very few films in between. Also, the movies were always played from the parents’ perspective and never from the children’s perspective. That’s why he wanted to tackle this topic by making a bittersweet comedy, with nostalgia and funny scenes, fully involving the children in the story. During the breakfast scene at the beginning of the film, Sandrine’s children look at their bowl of cereal in front of them in one shot and suddenly look at their mother, who is standing to the side, in the next shot. I was privileged to see this excellent film at the AFI Film Festival

Story

During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, an American sports broadcast team must adapt to a live broadcast of Israeli athletes being held hostage by a terrorist group.

The film is set in the ABC control room in Munich for the 1972 Olympics

It realistically depicts both the routine aspects of running a control room during an event and, of course, the tragic event of the Black September attacks on the Israeli athletes.

The film also accurately shows how technology that was considered cutting edge back then seems hilariously primitive today (examples include giant VTR machines competing for satellite space, manual graphics insertion, etc)

The control room is populated by ABC Sports President Rune Arledge (Peter Sarsgaard), emerging producer Jeffrey Mason (John Magaro), VP of Olympic coverage Marvin Bader (Ben Chaplin), and German translator Marianne Gebhardt (Leoni Benesch), all of whom are excellent in their roles.

Adding to the realism is the use of archival footage from Jim McKay’s coverage of the tragedy

But the key aspect of any thriller is the screenplay and direction by Tim Fellbaum, which keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the film.

But that quibble certainly doesn’t stop me from highly recommending this excellent film – a must-see!

My only minor gripe is the casting of Benjamin Walker as Peter Jennings – he doesn’t seem quite right to play the handsome and elegant anchorman I remember (I would probably cut his character and rely solely on the recording of Jennings speaking from the Olympic Village).

Story

Immerse yourself in these modern, heartwarming tales where animals embark on enchanting journeys, from France to Japan via the Far North and its northern lights, to spread joy and generosity where the magic of Christmas knows no bounds.. The art is simple, charming, beautiful, looks like it was hand drawn and painted. The movie is made of 5 different shorts, every story is simple, has a few funny moments, a few heartwarming moments as well and cute characters. Each short teaches children something (for example one shows children how much we damage the forest so we can have Christmas trees for a few days/weeks). Went with a 5 year old and a 6 year old. The 5 year old was bored by the time the 3rd part ended. The 6 year old loved the 1st part, 5th part and the snowflakes. They were in my opinion too old for the movie, a 3-4 year old would probably enjoy it more. The actors who dubbed the movie had a very easy job, the characters say just a few words.

In fact, the two characters are kept apart for most of the build-up, which only makes the catharsis more powerful in the more intense, thriller-like final part of the otherwise slower film

Focused on immersing the viewer in the multi-factorial pain and suffering of Penelope and Odysseus upon Odysseus’ return to Ithaca, this treatise seemed to explore quite systematically the challenges many soldiers face upon returning from active duty, including PTSD and other mental health issues, reintegration into their old lives with family and society, and flashbacks of memories and pain both endured and inflicted, and the resulting inner change that is irreversible. The Return is fueled by an excellent casting choice to allow the viewer to experience this roller coaster ride that the two main protagonists ride to significant heights, the latter due to the unique and particular endurance of Penelope and Odysseus in this difficult time of their lives, and without the support of the other.

It’s a terrific and very relevant work that must be experienced!

Fiennes brings his unique style of depicting suffering to this work – a great extension of his wonderful skills from his adjacent depictions of pain and anguish in Spider and The End of the Liaison. Binoche is the perfect choice for Penelope, as the viewer might be somewhat fooled into feeling and hoping that the two will reunite in the same way they were close throughout The English Patient, and Pasolini exploits this to create an added tension in this work for those whose memories of The English Patient are vivid.
